It’s not just customers who are drifting away from their laptops and desktops to do everything on mobile devices. More and more, entrepreneurs are cutting the bulky power cord and conducting business on the go. Thanks to tablets and the ever-growing selection of mobile apps that’s easy to do.
We asked 10 successful entrepreneurs to share the apps that boost their business productivity. Here are their top picks.
1. Sign With RightSignature
I absolutely love the RightSignature iPad app. It’s imperative to my business operations and easy to use. RightSignature enables a business owner to easily customize and send out legal documents, and then have the executed contracts in one place that’s secure, private, and cloud-based so it’s accessible for the business owner from any device or location. The service is extremely affordable, and it makes my life so much easier.
2. Go With GeckoBoard
GeckoBoard is a dashboard for your business that allows you “at a glance” access to critical information about the health of your company. You can include web analytics, data from your support queues, and much more. GeckoBoard can also integrate data from programs like Basecamp, Google Analytics, and many others.
3. Stick With Square
We love using Square. It allows us to have a mobile store and take credit cards at festivals and events with the iPad. With some thought, before an event, you can load photos and setup SKUs and pricing for quick-order processing by tapping photos. Customers love using there finger to do signatures, too. And the best part of the app is it direct deposits the funds so no more bad credit cards to follow up on afterwards.
4. Hop on HighRise
With HighRise, something as simple as being able to set up an email introduction while I’m out at coffee has landed me new business. My network is most definitely one of the key assets for my business, and being able to have all the data on the various people I know and work with at my finger tips is crucial.
5. Try Out Zite
Zite is a great app that offers a personalized magazine that pulls articles that match your interests. This is a much more efficient way of getting news and advice. It also allows me to not have to search several different sites for content that can keep me on top of my game.
6. Evernote for Everything
I think Evernote is an incredible app for entrepreneurs. It really helps you organize and remember everything you need to remember. Its search functionality by keyword is perfect when you have content within the app for appointments, ideas, and everything else you need. The great thing about it is you can literally use it for almost everything you need to keep organized. You can record voice notes, capture images, store documents, and best of all, get access from anywhere!
7. Work In Wunderlist
I use Wunderlist religiously to manage my to-do’s and reminders. It is a cloud-based solution and works very much like Evernote. The big difference is that other reminder apps don’t offer the ability to sync devices as easily, nor do they offer a clean user experience. It’s a must-have app for your tablet and really all other devices.
8. iThoughtsHD for Mind Mapping
I’m a big fan of mind mapping. By this I mean starting with a central concept from which other ideas grow and branch out. iThoughtsHD is the most intuitive and easy-to-use mind mapping software I’ve found. I use it to make notes, expand my network, introduce peers, and outline, organize and brainstorm new ideas. Its free-flowing interface helps me connect seemingly random ideas to find creative solutions.
9. Download Teamviewer
Online startups have tons of computers, hard drives, servers, and networked devices in use at any given time. At the same time, owners of these devices may be on the road, in the field, or on vacation and cannot access the data that they need on any particular device. We use Teamviewer religiously to remotely access these devices to make sure everything is updated and running smoothly. Teamviewer is available on the iPad, Android, and iPhone platforms. It makes mobile access easy and staying on top of hardware a breeze.
10. Salesforce Mobile Works
When it comes to doing sales for Tatango, it’s imperative that not only everyone on the team be connected while they’re mobile, but that they also have access to the most up-to-date information regarding leads, contacts, opportunities and deals. With the Salesforce mobile app, both of these things happen. The best part about the app though is that from my own tablet, I can track what everyone else is working on, jump in, make introductions, or even help close deals when necessary.
